On a very special day,an Angel wept
In her arms, a newborn babe slept
Tears of love and joy filled her eyes
As she thanked God for this wondrous prize
Even today, I still count the ways
To say I love you , Mom
May you have many more Happy Mothers Days !

She had over ten
beautiful sweaters
yet wore
her old one with holes
around the garden
She walked in crispness of the morning
awakening with the humming birds
when the sun peered out from the sphere
always wearing her old sweater.
I turn and face the woman
who gave me an uplifting
wonderful life
unconditional love
like no other.
The other day I stood in mother’s garden
remembering her clipping
roses [...]

You brother on earth no more
Were most of what a mother wishes for
So watching her sob at this news
Wasn’t new news to my heart’s expectations.
What hovers in that head of hers’?
I know what hovers round my head,
Nothing but a plethora of questions;
What is it like when we die?
Do we still miss our mothers?
What do we [...]

THE CHRISTMAS DRESS
By: Cynthia DiSciullo and William Zigmont
A Celebration of Delaware ~ Odessa’s Odessa Fire Hall
Oh my, oh me, how incredibly beautiful I will be
The belle of Christmas day, you must come and see
I couldn’t believe it when it came to the very final fitting
Normally no one notices me much, tucked away and sitting
But there [...]

Walking by a candy shop,
The sight of gumdrops made me stop,
And with a penny in my hand,
I entered into Candyland.
The smell of chocolate was distinct,
And then a sight caused me to blink,
As if in answer to my prayers,
I saw a million chocolate bears.
Some were dark and some were light,
And some were very, very white,
Some were [...]

I caught a turtle and a frog,
And then I tried to catch a hog,
But it would fight and make a squeal,
I didn’t know how it would feel.
I thought that it would play with me,
But it just wanted to be free,
To roll around in sloppy mud,
I loved this pig; I called it Bud.
Though it was just [...]

I watch you fly
High in the blue
Hoping one day to be like you
You seem so free
When you look down at me
I shiver
I fear of what you will do
Cause I’ll never be a superior as you
You succeed in everything that you do
You impress everyone you see
They know your name but don’t know you
I know you
You can [...]

I’m five years old, but almost six,
My mommy says I’m big,
I play outside in lotsa dirt,
Because I like to dig.
My nana’s name is Granny Smith,
She gives me lotsa stuff,
My brother’s name is Jason Smith,
But he plays really rough.
And…um ,um ,um…and…you know what?
One time when I was small?
My mommy got me all dressed up,
And took me [...]

“Daddy, Daddy, let me come to work with you today”,
She stood there sobbing as I drove away,
And in the rear view mirror I saw her crying as she waved,
And felt my heart break one more time again.
Everyday was just the same; I said she couldn’t come,
My days were busy and I hadn’t time,
To hold my [...]
