Riley Terese
Who’ll need
loving care and devotion
For quite a while.
This beautiful child
Will cement Mom and Dad’s

Soaring High
I wish I were an Eagle
Soaring high in God’s blue sky.
Effortlessly flapping its wings
Taking it ever high.
Surveying the earth beneath
Sharp eyes taking all in
Searching a likely prey
A tasty meal for him.
Swooping swift as a bullet
Feathers fluttering in the wind
A hare, a fish, a bird
His talons soon will win.
Back to the aerie
Three hungry chicks [...]
July Fourth
Marching bands
Um pa pa.
Kids on bikes
Ooh la la.
Fire engines clanging
Oh ma ma.
Politicians waving
Playing the crowd.
Sweating marchers
Puffing aloud.
Is this what it is
All about?
Is this the reason
We all shout?
Nothing meantioned
About the men who bled,
Or of those who lie dead.
These are the ones
We should honor today.
These are the ones who
Paved the way.
They paid the price
For our liberty,

Blinded by the storm.
Hear my plea.
My spirit is worn.

Gratitude
On awakening in the morning
To greet the new born sun
I offer up my prayers to God
For all that He has done.
My conversations with the Lord
Are rarely pleas for me;
However, they are thank you notes
For blessings sent to me.
Our talks are rather simple,
And here is what I say
Thank you Lord for staying
The long and dream [...]
caught up in passion and pain
emptiness aches and destinations
unknown
bottomless void that holds nothing
and wraps itself around everything
a smile that hides behind an illusion
but really hasn’t it always been
masked by this great
divide
temporary addiction moving
from one thing to the next
filled by her only to be broken
filled by another only to be a token
of what might have been
on yet [...]
the empty box stands open
she contemplates each item
scattered on the floor
the dusty floor where she kneels
examining each one carefully
remembering how in years past
things had gotten put away
this and that
little pieces of her
some went quietly
some kicking and screaming
but each in their time
locked away
hidden
risking it all in madness
not so long ago
in a storm of fire
she ripped [...]
The divine words of god, were heard
Like the chirping of a bird,
“Here is Man”; “He is my beloved son”….
Man sitting in the Garden of Eden
In paradise, said:” Amen! So be it;
Peace unto you, my God.”
But when he plucked the fruit of
That tree of dreams, the voice
Changed and became harsh,
That of God, with discord;
