The Dear Departed

I’ve met some characters
In my time
At work and play
They were all just fine
Some had their foibles
But then
Don’t we all
Some turned a trick
Would love to see a fall
But most of all
My colleagues of old
Were very sound
Or so I’m told
Some would laugh
Some would joke
The odd ones
They were queer folk
I loved them all
Respected them too
But now I find
There are just a few
Of my work colleagues left
From the day
That I started
As many are now
The dear departed
Gone to meet
The lord above
Though sadly missed
They’ll be dearly loved
