The Open Road
Have you ever dreamed?
To travel the open road
With no destination
Only an urging to probe.
With no thought in mind
The weather so fine
You’ve decided
This is the time.
Not a clue to
What lies ahead?
Fantasies dance around
In your head.
Will rainbows and haloes
Be seen on your trek
Or will disaster prevail
And your dreams wreck.
Open roads may seem romantic
But unless you’re nomadic
And hardened in life’s ways
Oft times become tragic
Ending in malaise.

It’s a very very true poem, Tom. Because yes, I have done it, not just dreamed it. And yes that is what happens in the end!
Anna, thank you for your kindness. I still think that I’m the scribe and my departed wife is the author. I still love and miss her more and more each passing year.
