Trying to get Home Safe

The rain pounds

hard on my windshield.

The sky is

so dark I can’t see.

The Thunder,

echoes through the mountains,

and I’m just

tying to get home safe.

Bright lightening

tears across the atmosphere.

Hail threatens

to penetrate my windows.

Water rises,

and floods all around me

and I’m just

trying to get home safe.

Wind blows

and howls through the valley.

The Thunder

releases its cry,

 Lightening

Flashes with anger

and I’m just

trying to get home safe.

The sun shines

and birds sing so sweetly

a melody

that pleases the soul.

The dark clouds

have moved away elsewhere

and now

I’m safe at home.

About Heart 4 poetry

I love writing. It has been my passion for years. I started writing when I was only eight. I had my first poem published at ten through a poetry contest. Poetry is a major part of my life. I can write my life down in a simple page of poetry. I have not yet been recognized for my writing talent, but I hope to publish many poems and books in the near future.( I am now 18 and still writing)

    Hi!

Your lyrics are free to use as song lyrics, ok? Liked your Trying to get home safe, and would perhaps do so if ok. We’re just a Norwegian garage band, though.

    Hi,
Sorry I have not been on this site in forever so I just now viewed your comment. Thank you and I’m glad you liked my poem. If I may ask, what kind of band are you exactly?
